Photographic Judge, Rod Fry, CPAGB, ARPS, did a brilliant job in judging the 2nd Open Competition for digital images for Dawlish and Teignmouth Camera Club just before Christmas.
Rod, who is a member of Paignton Camera Club, explained how subjective judging can be by sharing the story of how one of his photos received a very low mark at one competition, but subsequently went on to receive nearly full marks at another. His natural enthusiasm, together with his wealth of knowledge on famous photographers and their styles provided an entertaining evening, smattered with quotes and anecdotes.
Over 70 images were submitted to the competition with each one receiving positive feedback and helpful critiquing, where necessary. Six prizes were awarded in total with the winners as follows:
Gold – Naomi Stolow
Silver – Kevin McDonough
Silver – Nigel West
Bronze – Tejas Earp
Bronze – Bob Kethro
Bronze – Howard Sheard
Chairman, Nigel West, thanked Rod for being such an engaging and good-humoured judge.
New members are always welcome – the club meets on Wednesday evenings at Holcombe Village Hall. Find more details here: www.dawlishteignmouthcameraclub.co.uk
