An evening with Andrew McCarthy - Composition in nature photography
Mastering composition is essential for making your nature images stand out from the crowd. Andrew will explore a range of key foundational compositional principles — for example, how subject size and position within the frame help create balance and context, how mastery of backgrounds can give images more impact, and how diagonals, curves, and repeating patterns generate tension or harmony. He will suggest ways to incorporate these elements into your photography to produce more compelling images and how to make quick compositional decisions in the field.

Shooting people in cool places is my thing, I love helping businesses grow by creating eye-catching photos and videos for their websites, advertisements and social media. I’m also an educator, giving lectures and workshops for universities, organisations and groups of awesome people. The Irish blood in me means that I love to talk to people, so get in touch - I’m always up for grabbing a cup of tea and having chats :)
